Bushnell is well known in the area for steel forging and manufacturing. The three largest employers are, Vaughan & Bushnell , Midwest Control Products and Norforge Inc. The community is served by two railroads. The people of our area have a strong midwestern work ethic. There are about 3,500 people in the city of Bushnell.
The City of Bushnell owns the utility system. Profits by the utility are returned to the users in the form of lower rates; making the electric rates amongst the lowest in the state. 20-50% less cost than in nearby areas. The natural gas is also distributed by the municipal owned utility.
